Tri the Mountains at Blue Ridge

I can’t count which number triathlon this is, but I for some reason I woke up at 3:30am to go watch Chris and Beau do yet another triathlon. I will admit that the “mountain” part of the title of this one scared me a little bit, so I did not do it. I can do a flat beach tri, but mountains, I think I will pass.
Chris getting all his gear ready, which takes him FOREVER, but he very thorough I am sure.
Chris, Beau and Dr. Tim looking awake and ready to start this race. Dr. Tim thought he was the race coordinator......seriously. If you have ever been to one of these races, they don’t let anyone in the transition (bike) area except for athletes, but oh no, Dr Tim said he was a sponsor and had 5 bikes in there and that he needed to be in there. Quick huh? Anyway, he was a hoot to watch and be with.
No, we don’t know these guys, but just to give you an idea of the complete STUDS that were there. This was some kind if qualifying race for something??
Beau was about 12th out of the water!
This was a story that I was so intrigued by. Again, don’t know them, but the guy on the left is blind and this was his first triathlon. He had a guide that he was tied to in the water to make sure he didn’t stray too far off course.
Chris getting ready to go off on his mountain ride!
Here are my boys again......the blind guy in the back.

Beau did great again, but I think just barely missed an award, thanks to a stacked age group.
Chris was only a minute and a half behind Beau, which is our benchmark.
Oh so glad to be done.
These guys finished the race with a respectable time. Again, during the run they were tethered to each other. AMAZING is all I can say and very inspiring.
Chris placed 3rd in his clydesdale group. Good job!!

All of these awards he wins have been sent to his office. Don’t you think that’s a good place for them? So he can see them everyday!
