Gooooooo DAWGS! Sic'em!

Gameday outfits didn't work the first 2 GA games, but we are sticking with them to see if we cheer the dawgs on to a few more wins.

Are you ready for Halloween?

Well, we opened up our decoration box this weekend and Mason went for the paint and wanted Chris to paint him like Swampfire from Ben10.

Buie looking at Mason like he is nuts. Before Chris started, Buie and Mason both wanted their faces done and Buie wanted one like the Grim Reaper. Well, after Mason's face was done, which Chris did a great job, Buie changed his mind and didn't want his done anymore.

What Buie did want, was for me to paint his fingernails green. I told him only girls paint their nails and he said it's okay mom, green is a boys color. Chris's main concern was did I have polish remover!! ( he held them like this for about 30 minutes so they could dry)

Warrior Dash in Manchester, TN

Not a great picture, but we didn’t take too many pics. Here is part of our group that went up to Manchester, TN to run the Warrior Dash and then camp out nearby. Beau, Frank, Chris, Drew all fresh and clean before the race.

Mom and I before the race. She was so nervous, but I just told her she can always walk and she can always go around some of the scary obstacles. To her credit she ran most of the 3.5 mile course and she did EVERY obstacle. (which were not easy). THis race was much harder than the one we did in Georgia back in May. Good work mom.

Here we are back at camp, which was hardly camping from what I knew, but now that I know how this works, I may resort to only this kind of camping from now on. So we “camped” at a campground not far from the race, where you park your car, unpack your stuff right there (no backpacking all your gear), pop up your tent, blow up your air mattress, start your fire in your fire ring, pour your water from your spick et, and plug in your t.v. into the socket. Sounds like “normal” camping right? I must say, it was nice. Did you pick up on the blow up mattress? Yes Chris insisted that he have one and since he got a queen, guess what? I got to sleep on it too. So with the plug in t.v., CHris and Jay working incredibly hard on hooking up satellite so they could watch the football games. Oh yeah, there was a grill there too and Clint grilled all of our food.

We rented 2 spots and they were back to back. Here a just a few of the tents.

So our crew consisted of Chris and myself, Clint and Sarah, Jay and Amanda, Mom, Beau, Frank, Ash, Drew. We missed those of you that could not come, but had a blast with the ones that went.

East Cobber Parade

While Chris was off doing yet another triathlon somewhere I can’t remember ( and yes he won another award for “Big Boy” division) I decided to take the kids up to Johnson’s Ferry Rd to watch the parade. What a nice way to start off the Fall, it was a beautiful morning. We have never been before and the kids had a blast. Not knowing what to expect (and not prepared with bags for candy) we came home with more candy than what you get on Halloween! No lie, everyone in the parade (except people playing instruments) threw out candy. Mason had a blast gathering as much as he could, Buie got tired so he only gathered a little bit(but eats a lot of Mason’s), Celie on the other hand wanted to eat every piece she picked up! I couldn’t count the number of piece of candy she ate and threw and to try the next kind. Anyway, other than all the candy we came home with, we had a blast.

You can’t see it, but the kids loved the person dressed up as a Dalmatian in the front seat.

Celie’s favorite part were all the bands (Walton, Wheeler, Pope) that came by playing music and she got to dance.

Buie was fascinated by these people! Well they didn’t throw out any candy, but they were dressed up like people from Star Wars. The guy in white (Stormtrooper) pointed his gun right at him and it made his day!

Mason & Buie’s 1st soccer games

Mason had his first game last weekend and it went way better than I thought. He literally had a smile on his face the entire game. I think it might have had something to do with Carl being out there with him. 

 After only playing for a few minutes, it just clicked and he “got” what he was supposed to do. 

 This little girl that he beat to the ball was their best defensive player and I think saved them the game, but at least Mason had fun trying to do the right thing. 

 Here goes to score his first goal. He was so proud that he was telling people all about it the rest of the weekend. 

He even started to understand defense, which hard to grasp. 

 Those little legs don’t pack much of a punch, but at least he got to the ball first.

 Now it’s Buie’s turn, which I did not get to witness, but heard about Buie and poor showing. I will say I expected a little more out of him than I did Mason, because wants to play in the house all the time, while Mason plays wii, so I thought he would be excited. Well, Chris said he was by far the best one during practice, but once he started the game and got the ball taken from him, he quit!

Notice him on the far right sitting by himself, because he didn’t like the other kid “taking” the ball from him. He has a lot to learn!

Boosterthon-Fun Run

 Last week Mason had his fun run where they call people to sponsor a certain amount of money for each lap they run and they try and run as many laps as possible. (max 35 laps) Well, he was very involved in the fundraising and wanted to call “people” every night to ask them to pledge. I think it was more about what prize would he get at school the next day, but I guess it worked and he raised almost $1,000.

 Granny, Buie and Celie came out to watch Mason run.

 Not looking so hot huh? Well, little did we know, Mason was sick. He ran all 35 laps (feeling like he had to throw up) with a fever. He wanted to finish though, so he was tough and kept going.

He wanted to stay at school even though he did not feel well, but that did not last long. The nurse called me and said he had thrown up and had a fever, so I went and picked him up and took him to the Dr later that day and he ended up having strep. So he did all that having strep! What a stud you are Mason, good work!

Mason is playing soccer this Fall and he has practice once a week and games every Saturday.

 Here is his first practice, which I was a bit nervous about. Not about how well will he play soccer, because I really don’t care. I just want him to have fun. I was worried that he would not know anyone on his team and therefore not want to go to practice or games and in the end not like soccer.

 Well, I was wrong. There are 2 kids on his team that are in his class at Sope Creek! What are the odds? He was so excited to say the least and now he looks forward to soccer and hopefully will have a good experience.
