SNOWJAM 2014
So, when this storm decided to roll into town, all the reports showed our area to not get very much snow and that most of it would hit south of us. Well, the boys got sent home early (12:20) and once the bus dropped them off, I realized that the snow was not only coming down pretty hard, but it was sticking to the roads (the day before I was playing tennis in a skirt!). Celie was still at school and I decided I need to go ahead and pick her and Mary up a little early, even though I hated to do it since she was at cake decorating after school. I knew I was in trouble when I was slipping on the roads right outside our neighborhood. So, I told Chris to get home ASAP. Well it took me 45 minutes to get there and back (normally 5-7 min), which looking back I can’t complain. Some people were stuck for hours or even over night. Chris ended up having to park his car 3-5 miles away and walk/catch rides because he came to a round about that was gridlock. He was lucky he was close enough and that it was still day time to be able to get home. Once we were all safe and sound, we had a blast playing in the snow and hanging out with neighbors. I did NOT like all the laundry that came with it.
This was only after about the first hour.
The kids finally got to use the snow discs Grandma gave for xmas a couple of years back.
They were perfect and we were very glad that we had them.
Good and bad, our neighborhood has some great hills to sled down.
Street party.
Don’t mind the snow on my lens. This is one our friends up at the top of our neighborhood that walked home for miles in his work attire. He was exhausted and said he fell quite a few times.
The kids had their fill of sledding.
We didn’t have the best gloves or boots, but they managed to play out in it for hours.
Chris was in heaven too with taking his toy out for a spin. The Samurai did not have a problem in the snow/ice. I will say it got out of the neighborhood when we would otherwise have been stuck.
Celie even got brave enough to try it.
