Today was a monumental day in the Crawford family! January 30th!
This was the second day we tried to get the boys to ride their bikes without the training wheels. The first day went down as one I would like to forget, with LOTS of tears and “I can’t do this”! Then there was today, where somewhere they both had lots of confidence that I have not seen. They a few good runs down the bottom half of our driveway on what looked like a balance bike. Chris not only took off the training wheels, but he took off the pedals too so they did not get in the way of the boys’ legs and their feet when they were learning their balance. Such a great idea and gave the boys lots of confidence knowing they could hold their feet barely off the ground as they were gliding down the drive so they could stop at any point in time.
Even Celie wanted to ride her “bike” in which she just started to actually pedal herself instead of always being pushed!

Looking good, slow and steady.....

.....a little wobbly....
....and crash! He didn’t have many of these and one of the first things we taught them was how to crash and what you do. Drop the bike and protect yourself!
It didn’t take Mason long once he had his pedals on to take off. He finally listened that it was easier to control when you were going faster than slower. (doesn’t sound right, but try it) So, here is Chris running along side of him and holding on to his shirt and coaching him along the way.
The next time he came by, CHris wasn’t even close to him and Mason was doing it all by himself!!!
Not sure if you can see his grin and how big it was......he was going so fast I could hardly catch a good shot of him! WOW Mason! So proud of you for sticking with it and figuring it out!
Buie even tried it out. He is soooo close to getting it too and he is one and half years younger than Mason. I think he will get it the next time we try. No tears from anyone today, which is HUGE in our family.

On another note (lucky you that I don’t have any pictures of this) Celie had a notorious day as well. She and I went to Target today to pick put some big girl panties that she can wear. Well she tt’d 2 times on the potty and pooped once! Did you hear me? Well, she actually had gone tt before on the potty, but would never go poop, but Chris caught her making faces and he ran her to the potty and sure enough, she did it! We shall see if this continues or if it was a fluke. I’d like to think that she is starting to “get” it, but that could just be that girls are better than boys and start doing things earlier :) It was a BIG day at the Crawford house today, proud of all my babies growing so big!
