Sooooo, last night was not the night I thought we were going to have. We went over to my brother's house to celebrate Ashley's birthday and it turned into and night from hell. All of the adults were getting dinner ready while all the children were in the basement playing. The 4 older ones were glued to the t.v. watching Ben10 and none of them saw exactly what happened, but the main thing that matters is Celie tripped and fell and hit her head on the wall or something hard. As a mother, you know all the kinds of cries your children have and I knew once I heard her cry that it was something serious. Little did I know what it was until I saw her and blood was gushing from her head and her face and ballet leotard (she insisted on wearing) were both covered in blood. Once we got her cleaned up and calmed down we could see that it was a pretty deep cut and we needed to do something about it. So our first plan was to go to my brother's office (he's an oral surgeon) and give her medicine to try and sedate her and give her a couple of quick stitches. Well nothing was quick about this trip. We had a very hard time getting her to drink the apparently awful tasting medicine. She would have nothing to do with it, no matter how we disguised it. Finally bribing her with a piece of gum worked. Well, I guess either we did not give her enough or she is in the 2% of kids that the medicine has the adverse effect. She turned into this psycho, evil child that I have never seen and would prefer not to see again. She wanted to get down and walk around or sit by herself, but the medicine had kicked in just enough to make her a little loopy. She was throwing herself all over the place and could not stand up straight all alone. So , at that point we were worried she would hurt it more or hurt something else. The only thing that constrained her was the car seat. Once we got back to my brother's house we finally had to put her in a pack n play since that was the only thing she could be let free in and not hurt herself. Soooooo, luckily after only a few minutes my brother came in with an offer that we could not pass up. His partner's roommate in med school was a plastic surgeon at Piedmont......he happened to be on call last night, so we got a hold of him and he offered to meet us in his office.( he said NOT to take her to the ER) We had planned on just putting dermabond (super glue) and steri strips and calling it a day, until the Dr cleaned it out and got a good look at it and he said if it were his daughter, he would put 3 stitches in it. So I said roll with it, but there was one kicker........he did not have medicine to knock her out and so we would have to hold her down. Well......do any of you know how strong a 2 year little girl is? It took 3, I would say pretty strong adults (Chris, my brother and myself) to hold her down. She made it tough, but the Dr was so good that once he started it only took him about 2 minutes to do it. She was one brave little girl, that really had no choice, but I am proud of her. I am also proud of myself too. I never once freaked out (I guess we were in good hands the whole time), I thought I would pass out if I ever saw one of my children covered in blood, but I didn't, and I thought I would cry when I saw her held down and being stitched up, but I didn't cry either. I guess your adrenaline just starts pumping and a stronger power just takes over and it's really not about me at that point. It's tough to see your children in that kind of pain......it's a helpless feeling! She woke up this morning like any other day and I didn't want to ask her about it, in case she would start to pick at it, so all we have are a few pictures to show her one day and hopes of minimal to no scarring.

What Dr Joseph Woods did for us and Celie is priceless and I will forever be indebted to him, so if any of you need a tummy tuck or boob job or any other plastic surgery, please go see him!
